YOUTH FELLOWSHIP

Formed in 2008 as the Salvation Army Youth (SAY Group), our youth fellowship stands as a core pillar of spiritual growth, teamwork, and active community outreach at TSA Sion Tamil Corps.

ABOUT THIS MINISTRY

WHO WE ARE

Youth ministry has been an integral part of the life and history of our church since the founding of the congregation. From its earliest days, young people have actively participated in worship, fellowship, service, and the various ministries of the church, contributing to the spiritual and communal growth of the congregation. In 2008, this longstanding involvement took a more organized form with the formation of the Salvation Army Youth (SAY Group). The group brought together young members with a shared commitment to growing in faith, serving the church, and contributing to the spiritual development of the younger generation.

The SAY Group has played an active role in serving the wider community through various initiatives, including healthcare programs and free medical camps conducted in partnership with leading hospitals in Mumbai. These efforts reflect the group’s longstanding commitment to serving those in need and extending the church’s mission beyond its congregation. Alongside its community service, the youth have remained deeply involved in the spiritual life of the church through worship, fellowship, ministry, and activities aimed at nurturing faith among young people and the wider congregation. Among the group’s most notable annual contributions is the creation of the Christmas Nativity Crib. Designed and constructed through the collective efforts of the youth, the crib has become a cherished expression of teamwork, artistic creativity, and faith, and a prominent attraction in Sion each December.

A flagship annual initiative of the SAY Group is the Youth Retreat, a special one-day gathering conducted in collaboration with member churches of The Salvation Army Mumbai Division. Bringing together young people from across the Division, the retreat provides a dedicated space for worship, fellowship, learning, and spiritual renewal, while equipping young leaders to grow in faith and live with purpose, conviction, and a commitment to service.
